Meeting Queso

My initial impression of rats was not a very good one. Rodents in general freak me out a bit, including hamsters and guinea pigs. I think it is because they squirm a lot and I am not quite used to holding them. I like to squeeze because I am used to squeezing my dogs, who are much much larger than rats, even my weenie dog.

I did get to hold my rat, I held her a couple of times. The first time went a lot more smoothly than the second, which is funny, I thought it would be the other way around.

My impression of rats has changed a bit, I hope that it changes more. I don't quite love rats as much as I do dogs, but they don't gross me out like they used to.

After a few days of deliberation, I named the rat Queso. At first, her name was going to be Cheese, but somebody else named theirs Cheez-it, which was just too similar. I thought Remy would be a cute name, after Remy from Ratatouille, or Geronimo, based off of a book series I read in third grade, but, Queso is a girl so Geronimo wouldn't work. I thought staying in the cheese realm would be better. I thought of Gouda, Mozzarella, Ella for short, and Brie, but Queso was the most fun and technically is the original name in mind, just in Spanish.
